do you know if there is anything like a teevo, spelling, which can tape shows on a time schedule that we can use? I mean something that you can set it and forget it without sight? I use direct tv if that helps with the answer.

With Tivo, can't you set up your recordings online? That way that part of the process would be accessible. Does direct tv offer their dvr service online?
